Scuba Diving

So you are interested in becoming a scuba diving instructor? Lets get right into it then, what does a scuba diving instructor do? A scuba instructor is a full time career, usually hourly, who is positioned in either charter, retail, or training departments. Many instructors work at resorts and cruise ships to cater to all of the vacationers that would like to go out on an expedition or to just get certified. The average salary of instructors is around $36,000 per year. Now, this isn’t an incredible amount of money, but for doing your passion and enjoying every minute of every day at work, most would say that is worth it! One thing to keep in mind is that scuba diving instructors stationed on cruise ships and at resorts make less money than those involved in retail. However, don’t forget that many cruise ship and resort jobs actually pay for your room and board so in that sense, you may even be better off! I mean, you get to work on a cruise ship doing something you love, you can’t get better than that.

Becoming a cruise ship captain is both very difficult and prestigious. As a cruise ship captain, you will have more responsibilities than any other mariner. Some of the responsibilities include the safety and well-being of the passengers, the leadership over the mates, captains, and crew, general overview of maintenance  and most importantly, the captain pilots the ships avoiding all hazards. Captains are also responsible for keeping up documentation and certifications to avoid fines or breaking various laws.

How The Navy Can Help You Become A Boat Captain

Posted by on May 7, 2014 in News | 0 comments

Many people have the dream of being the captain of a large boat, or even being the captain of their own personal boat. Becoming a captain is a long process and is much more complex than what most people realize. Not only does a boat captain have to have the license to do this, they must also demonstrate several competencies before they will even be granted said license.

The things that are required will vary depending on the country that a person is in. This is why it is extremely important that a person make sure they are checking what is needed to ensure they meet the necessary requirements. Most commonly, the requirements include having a certain number of hours operating or running a boat. This is generally under the command of another captain in which the person can say that they drove the boat with assistance. They are also going to be required to know about boats, and the entire process of what it takes to drive a boat. There is a written exam that a person has to take in order to become a boat captain, and without passing this written exam, the person will not get their certification to do so.

Getting Help From the Navy

For those who join the Navy, they are going to find that they will have help in getting to their dream of becoming a captain. Those who stay in the Navy for four or more years are going to have the experience needed to walk away from this and become a captain. Since the person has spent so much time with the Navy, they can say that they have spent the hours needed on the water to ensure they qualify. They are also going to find that they have no problem with the written test as this is going to be information that the Navy would have them learn to ensure that they knew what to do while on the water.

Going to the Navy in order to prepare to be a captain is something that you will never regret. Not only are you going to learn all that is needed to know, but you get invaluable experience that is going to make you a better captain. If you are looking for employment with charter companies or the like, they are going to be much more keen on hiring a Captain with Navy experience since it means that the person has probably been put into any situation that could arise. In addition to training on “normal” issues that face boat captains, you will also learn how to operate a forklift (necessary for moving cargo), operate and manage a galley, learn management techniques necessary to run a ship, and much more. You will also learn water safety, CPR, and how to operate heavy equipment as these things are all important aspects of running a tight ship.

If you are serious about becoming a ship’s captain then consider how the Navy could be of help to you. The Navy is all about the water, and the skills that people learn while in the Navy crosses over well into their career of being a boat captain.

Aquatic Science Workers Can Supplement Their Income Through Binary Options Trading

Posted by on Apr 6, 2014 in News | 0 comments

The economy is terrible, and so is the job market. For this reason, the youth are now much more careful when it comes to the choices they make. When choosing what they should major in, they are now much more careful than they were before; this is because majoring in the wrong field can lead to them not having good job prospects after graduation. Of course, while the job market can be said to be terrible for everyone, it does not mean that all career paths are affected by it on the same level. Some career paths are actually impervious to the negtive effects of the current economy. One of these career paths happens to be aquatic science.

Many people don’t realize this, but aquatic science majors actually have it better than the typical college graduate. This is because they have a lot of career opportunities after graduation. They can easily go into either research, teaching, consultancy, or maybe even more applied work with both governmental and private organizations. Of course, despite having a lot of career opportunities, aquatic science majors still have to suffer through having low pay when they start their careers. The same can be said of most other career paths, actually. The good news for aquatic science majors is that they can easily greatly supplement their income when they are just starting out, and this is by doing binary options trading with Banc de Binary. Many people ask, is Banc de Binary good? The answer is yes, and in so many ways too.

What makes Banc de Binary a brokerage that enables its clients to earn a lot of money on a regular basis? Just by reading through the Banc de Binary information on the brokerage’s website, you will see that there are many things that contribute to this. Still, there’s a lot more to Banc de Binary than they let on on their website’s main page. For one, Banc de Binary actually gives people a trading platform where they can easily converse with expert brokers at any time of the day. Just by consulting these brokers, any person can ensure that the trade they are making is actually well thought out. Because of this feature, virtually all of Banc de Binary’s clients have a successful binary options trading experience. The best part is that the firm’s expert broker service is just one of the many benefits they offer to their clients.

Through the help of binary options trading, aquatic science graduates will have an easier time going through the motions of being new in their field. By engaging in it, they won’t have to worry about their bills when they are just starting out as workers in the aquatic sciences. The aquatic sciences offer a lot of career opportunities and are very rewarding, but working in the field can be very hard at the start due to financial reasons. With binary options trading, though, this is not an issue anymore. One just has to make sure that they are working with a legitimate brokerage such as Banc de Binary.

How Lifeguards can Combat the Negative Effects of Sun Exposure on the Skin

Posted by on Apr 3, 2014 in News | 0 comments

As careers go, being a lifeguard has more than a fair share of health hazards. But other than having to deal with the vagaries of the sea, lifeguards spend endless hours out in the open and as a result their skin takes more battering from the elements than would be the case with your average career person. This coupled with the stress of the job can easily lead to signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines and facial spots appearing more pronounced than they would otherwise be.

Can Sun Induced Skin Damage be Reversed?

Sun exposure and other adverse weather conditions are responsible for most of the skin damage and other signs of premature aging for lifeguards. The good news is that such sort of damage can be undone and reversed using simple and cost effective remedies. Of these, the most highly recommended ones are:

  • Derma rollers

  • Microdermabrasion

  • Exfoliation

Derma Rollers

The use of derma rollers to reverse visible signs of skin damage is a relatively recent development in dermatological circles. The devices themselves also caused plenty of skepticism when they made their debut in the market a decade ago.

The spikes dotted on a derma roller are used to create small pores on the skin when the device is rolled. This may appear, on the face of it, as a painful process but those in the know say it is anything but. While not instant fixes for all skin damage problems, regular use of well designed derma rollers will progressively get rid of fine lines, make sagging skin tauter and markedly reduce discoloration of the skin due to excessive sun exposure.

Derma rollers come with different specifications and a home user should be diligent when buying online. As a first time user of derma rollers, research widely to identify the best devices for your skin before ordering for one of your own. The objective derma roller review featured here would be a good point to begin your quest.

When microdermabrasion therapy for reversing visible signs of aging on the skin first became available, only the very rich who could afford to pay for therapy in exclusive spas had access to the therapy. However, as is inevitable for such innovative technology, soon players in the industry devised smaller but still effective microdermabrasion devices for use at home.

Microdermabrasion machines use either abrasive or ablative force at the micro level to remove dead cells and dirt particles that clog skin pores. Such debris usually interferes with the process by which the skin sheds of old cells, retain moisture and remains supple. However, not every microdermabrasion machine sold online will prove effective in reversing sun damage on the skin. To learn more about the best microdermabrasion machine systems like Nubrilliance review or New Spa, read this article which will help you identify key features such as suction power, filters and of course price .

Exfoliating the skin is a highly recommended practice, even when you are using other methods of skin care and therapy. Exfoliation helps keep the skin fresh by getting rid of the grime and debris that accumulates on the outer layer of the skin (the epidermis). However, it is important to be pay due caution in selecting an exfoliants as some of the exfoliating agents may only scar your skin and may even lead to infection.

Marine Forensics: Work Opportunities

Posted by on Mar 15, 2014 in News | 0 comments

The job market is really bad, however, this does not mean that all professions are equally affected by it. Those who work in the marine sciences, for one, are actually doing pretty well when it comes to finding amazing work opportunities. This is because many organizations from all over the world need more marine science graduates to fill in key positions, and they need them to do widely different tasks. Those who are planning to study a marine science in college don’t have to let the fact that the job market is bad discourage them from doing so. So long as they get good grades in college and are actually passionate about their field, they will do well after graduating. For this post, I am going to focus on one type of work marine science graduates do: forensics.

Many people don’t realize this, but marine science graduates actually aren’t all going to end up as researchers. Some marine science graduates actually do work that is more “applied.” For some marine science graduates, this happens to be forensics. Each year, so many accidents happen at sea. In the mildest of cases, no person is injured in these events; in the worst, people actually lose their lives. To be able to find out who is responsible for such accidents, marine science graduates need to work on them.

Typically, a marine science graduate will work with a personal injury law firm. The former’s job is to go through wreckages to look for clues as to what caused an accident. By looking through wreckages, they are able to gather evidence which can be used either for or against a certain entity’s case.

Here in Canada, one personal injury law firm has proven to be really successful at handling personal injury cases that involve accidents at sea (check out their website here). They are more successful compared to other law firms because they collaborate with marine scientists. They are able to gain access to so much helpful evidence because the marine scientists they hire know how to use the latest and best technologies for sizing up wreckages and determining the facts of accidents at sea. The personal injury law firm has successfully sued so many shipping entities and other big companies; this feat wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for the help given by their hired marine scientists.

Many law firms who work on personal injury cases at sea now make it a point to work with marine scientists; if you have always been interested in forensics and the marine sciences, you definitely have a future in the field.

Hopefully, what I have written here will prove helpful to those planning to study the marine sciences. Marine forensics is only one of the many things you can do after college; you will definitely also have many great opportunities in other sub-fields. Whatever the case may be, what’s important is that you should know that marine scientists have so many work opportunities, even more so than other professionals. All you have to do is exert your best efforts in school and stay passionate about the field.

Work Opportunities for Marine Science Graduates

Posted by on Mar 13, 2014 in News | 0 comments

The job market is in a bad state right now. Due to the fact that we are still experiencing one of the worst global recessions ever, so many people from all over the world currently can’t find fulfilling jobs. However, despite the fact that the job market is currently bad, some people really do have it better than others in terms of job prospects. One of these people happens to be marine science graduates. Some might think that those who studied the aquatic sciences are actually faring much worse than most people these days because they can’t find work, but this isn’t actually the case. In fact, most marine science graduates are actually able to find rewarding a few months after graduating. The reason why I am actually writing this post is to talk about this. Hopefully, this post of mine will get more people to consider taking up marine science in college.

Contrary to popular opinion, marine science graduates have a lot of career opportunities after graduating, and one of these opportunities happens to be research. Some might think that there are only a few opportunities in the sector, but this is not the case. Universities aren’t the only entities that hire researches. Non-educational entities both in the public and private sectors are in need of people who are knowledgeable in the aquatic sciences to do amazing research work. The kinds of work done in such sectors differ in nature. For some people, they might do research on water quality in urban settings. Some may collaborate with plumbers in Toronto who work on drainage and water supply problems. This helps homeowners have a clean water supply and a drainage system that keeps their house hygienic.Such related endeavors could provide data and invaluable experiences that could be lead to the kind of insights, that lead to grants and other future research projects.

Of course, there are other options for marine science graduates that don’t have to involve working with a plumber. Some marine science graduates actually move out of the country to work in exotic aquatic environments in faraway places. Humanity has barely scratched the surface with regard to the knowledge we can gain from some environments; because of this, many government and private entities actively encourage research on them. Many of those who studied the aquatic sciences are given great opportunities to work abroad by such entities. Aside from being an amazing experience, working in exotic environments also often pays well.

Hopefully, what I have written here will prove helpful to the many people out there who are interested in pursuing a degree in the aquatic sciences in college. Don’t let the fact that the job market is currently bad deter you from pursuing your passion. By having a degree in the marine sciences, you will have so many opportunities for work both here in the country and abroad. You only have to do well in school and develop your skills through extracurricular work to be able to avail of them.

The Job Prospects of Marine Science Graduates

Posted by on Mar 10, 2014 in News | 0 comments

The job economy may be in a very bad state right now, but marine science graduates actually don’t have good reason to fear it. This is because unlike most people, marine science graduates still have a lot of opportunities in today’s economy. If you are considering majoring in an aquatic science in college, don’t let the fact that we are facing economic problems stop you from doing so. So long as you are passionate about your chosen major and have good grades in college, you won’t have to worry that much about finding work after college. In this post, I am going to post some of the typical jobs marine science graduates get right after college.

For some marine science graduates, they opt to work in marine parks and aquariums to deal directly with aquatic life. Such work is very challenging yet it pays well. What’s great is that one doesn’t have to have a master’s or doctoral degree in order to work in such places. Unless one has to do research, one only needs a bachelor’s degree in order to do hands on work in marine parks. Most marine science graduates take such a job right after college. For some, it might be a temporary gig, for others, it’s a long-term job.

Some other graduates, however, opt to become assistant researchers right after graduating. They do this while taking up their master’s or even their doctorate. After receiving a post-graduate degree, assistant researchers can become independent researchers or work in a research group with a high degree of autonomy. Some graduates opt to become independent researchers as it can pay better. However, those who opt to become independent researchers need to hire a bookkeeping company if they want to be productive with their work. Unless one hires a bookkeeper to help them with their work, they will lose much of their time for research doing it themselves.

Lastly, some graduates opt to teach. Of course, graduates can’t teach at the university level unless they already have a doctorate. Still, teaching is very rewarding work, and this is why some marine science graduates forego other opportunities to teach, even if only at the high school level. For some, teaching at the high school level is enough, so they don’t really have to make it a point to get a doctoral degree. For others, though, they want to be able to teach at the college level and do research that’s financed by a university at the same time, so for this reason, they try to get their doctoral degree as early as possible.

Hopefully, what I have written her will help you decide whether you will take up an aquatic science as a major in college. If job prospects are the single biggest thing that’s preventing you from doing so, then you’ll be glad to know that they actually aren’t much of a problem. Of course, job prospects aren’t the only thing you should consider when choosing your major. There are other factors of equal weight that you should also look into. You should only make your final decision once you’ve thought everything through.

Finding Meaningful Work in the Marine Sciences

Posted by on Feb 25, 2014 in News | 0 comments

Marine science graduates definitely have a bright future. Although these grads in some parts of the world may feel like they don’t have many career opportunities, they actually do. In fact, many countries are actually seeking people who majored in the aquatic sciences to fill in key positions in both their public and private sectors. Unfortunately, even though these countries do subsidize the costs of moving, one still has to have enough to money to ensure that their move goes smoothly. Because of this, many graduates who want to avail of the opportunity to work abroad don’t push through with it. What many don’t know, however, is that they have an easy way to raise funds for their move. Through online trading, specifically, binary options trading, anyone with a degree in the aquatic sciences can raise enough money to help them move in another country easily and in no time.

Why exactly is binary options trading the best way for marine science graduates to earn money for their move? For one, despite the fact that it actually yields high returns, binary options trading is very easy to do compared to other kinds of online trading. Traders only have to follow binary options trading signals to ensure that they make safe yet profitable investments. Trading signals can easily tell people which assets they should deal with and how. Even when one doesn’t have substantial knowledge of trading, one can easily make profits through the help of these signals. Of course, before traders are able to make great money off binary options trading, they must first review the services offered by the different binary options brokers out there. No matter how skilled one is at binary options trading, they will never be able to make great profits on a long-term basis unless they are working with a binary options brokerage that offers amazing services.

“I now work on the Cayman Islands as an aquatic researcher. Although the government of this territory subsidized the costs of my move, I still needed extra money to make my move here as smooth as possible. If it weren’t for the fact that I got into binary options trading, I probably wouldn’t have been able to afford the rent as well have enough money for food for my first few months here. Thanks to binary options trading, I was able to fulfill my dreams of becoming an aquatic researcher,” Jessie Groff, a marine science graduate from Canada, told us.

Hopefully, this piece I’ve written will prove helpful to the many marine science graduates out there who are currently looking for meaningful work. Wherever you are in the world, know that you have many opportunities as a marine science major. There are many countries out there who need more aquatic researchers to make sense of our ocean’s biggest mysteries. Through the help of the governments of these countries, you can find meaningful work in the marine sciences. All you have to do is to ensure that you have the resources to move abroad.

Pointers When Hiring a Swimming Trainer

Posted by on Feb 23, 2014 in News | 0 comments

The moment we see a beach or even just a pool, it’s difficult to resist the temptation dive in and feel the cool waters. However, the diving part is not always possible for some people are not that talented when it comes to swimming. In fact, I’m a guilty non-swimmer for almost 21 years of my life. Later on, I realized how tiring it is to wish you could swim and dive and play with the fish. I decided to take lessons and it didn’t take long before I was able to swim on my own without my trainer. However, there are a couple of criteria your trainer should fit in to know he is capable of teaching effectively.

Broad age bracket of students

When you’re a teen, it’s not necessary to hire a trainer that only teaches teens. In fact, its better if your trainer teaches both kids and adults. This means he is versatile enough to handle such distant age brackets. There are also different techniques to teach kids and to teach adults. Knowledge on these techniques would benefit you and would make the learning process a lot faster. If possible, look for someone who has been working as a swimming instructor for many years already. Not only does the age of students matter but also the number of years he has been doing the job. This will give you a sneak peek of how capable he is to instruct non-swimmers

Consider one who teaches at schools

As much as possible, it would be nice if you could hire a swimming instructor with experience teaching or who is currently teaching in schools and universities. Educational departments have higher standards when it comes to swimming lessons because most of their student’s battle inter-school competitions. This means, the teacher should also have higher standards in teaching and more efficient and easy to learn techniques. With this, you will surely be swimming with the fishes in no time. However, just take note that school instructors often need to acquire a certificate first before they can teach in schools. These certificates can also be used to demand a higher fee.

Familiar with skin and water related concerns

According to dermatologist expert Lawrence Jaeger, there are many reasons for one to acquire allergic reactions to sea or pool water and you may click here to know more from his website. Redness and itching are the most common signs that your skin is not a good match for the water you’re swimming in. your coach must be knowledgeable about this, especially when you still don’t know you have skin concerns. If not, then you might end up enduring the worse of these skin problems, which will just strain you from swimming. A reliable coach shouldn’t be simply knowledgeable on swimming techniques and methods but h should also know the basics on caring for his student’s health. If not, then you might want to consider looking for another coach, unless you want to take the risk of paying less for unsure health security in the future.

Adding Power Washing to Your Services

Posted by on Feb 16, 2014 in News | 0 comments

One way to expand your business quickly and inexpensively is by adding the service of power washing to your list of provided services.

Why power washing?

Because power washers are fairly inexpensive and is as easy to use as a garden hose, it can become a highly profitable service.

Many homeowners will periodically request power washing done on their house as a quick way to clean the exterior from dirt, grime, or road dust.

Additionally, businesses and commercial properties will request power washing to brighten up the commercial center, keep sidewalks clean and safe, and for generally upkeep.

Another business entity that frequently purchases power washing services are home owner associations (HOA).

In order to be able to add power washing as an additional service you can provide, you first need to purchase the power washer.

You can find plenty of power washer reviews online, my favorite being Powell’s comparisons of pressure washers, because this man knows what he is talking about and make reviews about an arguably boring topic entertaining.

After you purchase the pressure washer, you will need to train yourself and your employees on how to use one.

It is fairly easy to use a pressure washer. Besides a few settings and safety precautions, the only required effort is holding the hose and pointing!

There are many differences between power washers however, and you will want to do your research before you decide that purchasing the cheapest one is the best solutions.

For instance, many of the cheap power washers may not be as durable, which you will definitely need when you are using it in your business, because you will be using it more often than a typical consumer for self use.

Because of this, we highly recommend that you purchase one from a reputable brand that makes them for business uses.

We suggest getting the best electric power washer and Bart Powell recommends two that he thinks are the best: The Powerworks 51102 and the Karcher K5.540.

Each of them have their own advantages and disadvantages so be sure to read his reviews – we’re not going to touch on them here, because Bart already does a great job writing them.

If you buy either one of these machines, you should be on your way to a great start to adding power washing to your line of business.

Here’s why we think it’s a good idea. Besides the fixed cost of the washer, the only cost to you for the service is labor and getting your guys to and from the job. The rest is pure profit, which power washing pulls a lot of.

The profit margin for a power washing job can be anywhere from 250% to 350% making it a very lucrative service to have on hand just in case any of your existing clients need that kind of job done.

The pressure washer doesn’t take up a lot of space either making it a great and easy to expand your service without any additional effort on your part.

Working as a Marine Biologist on the Cayman Islands

Posted by on Feb 1, 2014 in Careers | 0 comments

Work as a marine biologist is very rewarding; becoming one requires very hard work, though. To become a marine biologist, one must go through four years of undergraduate education and around two to five years of post-graduate education. The good news is that once a person gets a degree in marine biology, they will have many opportunities for work. The reason I am actually writing this post is to talk about the work of some marine biologists in the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands offers so many rewarding career opportunities to marine biologists. Hopefully, what I write here will prove helpful to the many aspiring marine biologists out there who want to work in an island setting.

Marine biologists have plenty of opportunities for research on the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands boasts of a rich marine life, and this results in the territory being able to offer many opportunities for producing original high quality work in the marine sciences. Many researchers from outside the territory often spend months or even years in the islands doing productive research. One of the best things about doing aquatic research in the country is that it is encouraged by many different organizations all over the world.

Aside from research, there are also plenty of opportunities to teach at educational institutions all over the Cayman Islands. Of course, as a general rule, only those with doctoral degrees can teach at the college levels. Those who only have a master’s degree shouldn’t fret, though. They can still teach at the high school level and even do research/teaching at aquariums.

There are also plenty of things to do in Cayman, as every marine biologist needs a day off sometimes.  With fantastic shopping and dining, the Cayman Islands offer many entertainment opportunities.  The island’s newest attraction, Camana Bay, boasts award winning restaurants, world class shops, and a cinema.  Camana Bay is a new urbanism community developed by Dart Realty, owned by Kenneth Dart (see: Kenneth Dart).  The town is designed to be pedestrian-friendly with beautifully landscaped walkways and bike paths throughout.

Randy Ortone is a Canadian marine biologist who has been working on the Cayman Islands for six years now. He’s actually made a name for himself as one of the territory’s premier marine biologists. “There so much to discover here on the Cayman Islands. Fifty years from now, there will still be a lot left to find out with regard to the territory’s marine ecology. We really need more marine biologists here on the Cayman Islands. I believe that whatever aquatic research we produce here will surely prove helpful to the entire field of marine biology,” Ortone told us.

Hopefully, what I’ve written here will prove helpful to the many students out there who aspire to work as marine biologists in a rich marine setting. The Cayman Islands have a lot to offer to those who would like to do productive research in the marine sciences. Any marine biologist who has a strong record in school will surely have an easy time finding a post in the Cayman Islands. Whether teaching or doing research or even both, marine biologists will surely have a great time in the territory.
